How we ended up where we're at today (& where we're going).

Where it all began...

Embark on an unforgettable journey through Africa, where falling head over heels for the captivating blend of landscapes, wildlife, and vibrant cultures is simply inevitable. Each adventure on this incredible continent unfolds as a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, making it impossible not to be enamored by every facet of Africa.

The story of Three Degrees South begins with Piers, fondly known as Pix, who, after a decade of dedicated service in the British Army Royal Logistics Corps, set his sights on Tanzania in search of a new chapter filled with thrilling escapades. In the heart of Tanzania, Pix assumed the role of lead guide and Operations Manager, working alongside his lifelong friend, Ake, who had made Tanzania his home guiding trips across the region since 1999 .

While their initial plans to establish a UK-based enterprise were thwarted by the unexpected arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, the vision and determination to create something exceptional persisted. The dream revolved around fashioning a business that not only embraced the splendor of African travel but also championed the cause of sustainability and community empowerment within the industry.

Fast forward to 2023, as the world emerges from lockdowns and embraces fresh opportunities, Pix and Ake united with their childhood companions, James and another James (yes, conveniently enough), each bringing their unique expertise in finance, marketing, and communications.

Together, they breathe life into Three Degrees South, a testament to their unwavering commitment to redefining the essence of African travel, fostering sustainability, and enhancing the lives of local communities. Join us on this extraordinary journey, where every adventure is a step towards a brighter and more responsible future.

What we're doing today.

As a travel industry we know we need to change, that is why doing rehabilitation work here in East Africa is so crucial.  We are currently researching options to offset our climbs by planting trees in the local community. So climb, calculate the maths as accurately as possible and then showcase the same as we plant out. Hopefully this will enable us to offer “My carbon offsetting adventures”

What were looking to put in place:

By going on a journey to calculate the carbon footprint of our trips this will provide valuable data for future trips that will help us develop a carbon offsetting model that we can apply to any number of destinations:

- community nursery

- plant and profit

- grow and offset annually thereby distributing money to marginalised communities to solve the problems of travel
